We have the following positions available:

Truck Driver CDL-A

AJD Truck drivers know how to handle different loads, keep inspection, trip logs and pass inspections from the different places along his/her route. AJD drivers will conduct themselves in a professional manner when dealing with the public, customers and coworkers. They will ensure loads are secure prior to leaving the loading area. Trucks and trailers will be checked with each load. They are responsible for ensuring that all safety equipment is operational prior to departing with load. When the driver returns the truck and trailer to the company, they are responsible to turn in any problems or repairs that need to be addressed to the truck shop. Weather is a significant factor in Northern Michigan and drivers are expected to call back to AJD for conditions and to make the determination on continuing their route in inclement weather.

Willing to train the right person.

Essential Duties include:

  •  Must have a current CDL-A with Chauffeurs and Air Brake endorsement.
  •  Multi-Axle / Lift Axle Experience.
  •  Is responsible for conducting pre/post inspections on all equipment used daily.
  •  Must ensure all permits are current and inside the equipment prior to departing.
  •  Will ensure that all loads are secure.
  •  Must be able to operate all kinds of trucks and trailers safely. Bark, Chip, Lumber, Low Boys, Log and Walking Floor trailers.
  •  Must move all kinds of forestry equipment on all types of terrain.
  •  Responsible for notification of truck or trailer deficiencies.

Education and/or Experience:

High School Diploma or general education degree (GED); 5 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  •  Pre-employment Physical
  •  Drug Testing

Electrician

This position has the responsibility for safely, repairing and maintaining all plant equipment to improve operating conditions, up time, and quality performance. Perform preventative maintenance and troubleshoot to remedy operational and quality deficiencies, utilize best practices, maintenance planning and work directives. Strong knowledge of AC/DC circuits, single, and three phase wiring, motor starters, relays, relay logic and PLC’s knowledge. Must be reliable, responsible, and safe individual who has the ability to work in a fast paced environment as part of a maintenance team. Must be able to bring all equipment to a zero energy state and observe all safety requirements.

Compensation based on experience.

Lumber Stacker

Entry level position with opportunities for advancement.

Job Duties

·         Places lumber piece by piece in layers.

·         Positions lumber on skids or carts to build foundation for lumber stacks.

·         Bands bundles and records number of stacks by product and species.

·         Cleans work area.

Qualifications:

Language skill:

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routing reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups.

Mathematical Skill:

Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio and percentage, and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
